Skill Level

Intermediate

Gauge

Construction Notes

  • Unless otherwise noted, turning chains do NOT count as the first stitch of the round.
  • Throughout this entire pattern, stitches will be worked into both loops.
  • Although this pattern is worked in the round, you will be turning at the end of each round to keep the project from twisting
  • While working the skirt, you will notice that some rows have a combination of DC, TR, and HDC stitches. These rows are worked to modify the length of the skirt so it’s slightly longer in the back for a better fit.
  • If you want to modify this pattern to make your skirt longer or shorter, you will need to do so in 4 round / 2” increments. This will keep the lace sections evenly spaced and the front/back shaping in the correct location. Places to modify length will be noted in the pattern.

Help Choosing A Size

This skirt is designed to be fitted at the waist. Model is 6” tall, has a 30” waist, and is wearing a size small with 3.5” positive ease. For best fit, choose a size that is 0-4” larger than your corresponding waist measurement.

Please note, we will be adding an elastic waistband to this skirt. For best fit, add an elastic waistband that is 1” smaller than your actual waist measurement. Once the elastic waistband is added, this skirt will fit to your actual waist measurement.

If you prefer to wear your skirts at your hips instead of your waist, choose a size based on your hip measurement instead of your waist measurement.

Crochet Pattern Instructions

Chain 90 (102, 114, 126) (138, 150, 162) (174, 186, 198) sts. Slst to join in round.

Waistband:

Round 1: ch2, DC around. Slst with first DC to join, ch2 & turn.

2: DC in each st around. Slst with first DC to join, ch2 & turn.

3-4: as rd 2.

To create the waistband, you will crochet elastic into the skirt. Sew the ends of the elastic closed to create a loop before you crochet the elastic into the skirt. For best results, cut your elastic 1” smaller than the measurement of where you want you skirt to sit, generally the smallest part of your waist.

5: Holding the elastic waistband behind your work, pull the beginning chain edge around the elastic and behind your work to so that the elastic in place is held in place between your DC rows (fig 1). DC through both the beginning chain edge and rd 4 as follows: YO, insert your hook into the first stitch, insert your hook also into the first stitch of the foundation chain (fig 2), YO, pull through the foundation chain and your first st (fig 3), YO pull through both remaining loops to complete your DC st. Repeat in this way around the entire round. Slst with first DC to join, ch2 & turn.

Note: For assistance with your elastic waistband, check out Figures 1-3.
