Hi everyone - I seem to be back to square one in terms of my job search. Taking advice from my career coach, I'm switching tactics just a little bit. Instead of looking for job postings (I can do that on my own), I'd like your help connecting with professionals and recruiters in the Security Automation line of work. It's okay if they don't know of any open positions. I'd just like to talk with people in the industry, expand my network of professionals and friends, and continue to improve my knowledge base.To my new connections, I'd love to learn more about your journey in cyber, what lessons you've recently learned, and how you brand your expertise in your chosen domain. And, of course, if you know of any opportunities (listed or unlisted) I look forward to discussing why I'd be a great fit for that role.#opentowork #opentoconnect #cyber #cybersecurity #securityautomation

(PSSST - I am open and actively looking for a position)The truth is that majority of Cyber Attacks still owe their successto familiar lapses in basic security that IT pros have been battling against for years. Such as:• Colonial Pipeline? Hacked via an inactive accountwithout MFA.• Irish Health Services? Malicious Excel doc.• The LockBit ransomware gang’s 5-month access to a U.S.government agency? Exposed RDP.• The $50M ransomware attack on PC-giant Acer?• Unpatched Microsoft Exchange vulnerability. The best investments aren’t necessarily in new tooling — they’re in shoring up the basics such as establishing secure baselines, tracking and reporting progress to management and stakeholders. Any changes should be tested aspart of a formal process, before being rolled out en masse. Some hardening techniques can have considerable impact or unintended consequences on user workflows and administration overhead.Security, as a process, should aim to alleviate overhead where possible, and communicate these changes out to the business ahead of time to ensure user and organizational buy-in to. The higher the potential impact, the moreimportant the level of clear communication up front. 😊

Hello everyone!Today, I want to share a reflection on a crucial topic in cybersecurity: the escalation policy. Understanding and properly applying this policy is fundamental to protecting an organization's digital assets.Imagine a company discovers an attempted intrusion into its network. In this scenario, the escalation policy is a lifesaver. Here’s how it works:Clarity and Transparency: The policy requires any employee detecting suspicious activity to report it immediately to the security team, ensuring no delays in response.Hierarchy and Responsibility: Upon receiving a report, the security team assesses the problem’s severity and determines if senior management should be involved, ensuring a quick and effective response.Evaluation and Learning: After each incident, a thorough review identifies vulnerabilities and lessons learned, leading to improved security measures. As someone passionate about cybersecurity, I am committed to learning and growing in this field. If any company is seeking an entry-level cybersecurity professional focused on escalation policies and committed to excellence, I would love to connect and discuss how I can contribute.Thank you for reading my post!
